History of the Department
Started in the year 1909 at Central College, then affiliated to Madras UniversityAffiliated to University of Mysore in 1952, Affiliated to Bangalore University in 1964. During 2009, Dept. celebrated ‘Centenary Year’ Well recognized centre for teaching, research and extension activities Well known for original research in Cytogenetics, Animal Physiology, Developmental Biology & Fishery Biology and Ecotechnology. As an offshoot of DOZ, Center for Applied Genetics & Sericulture Dept. came into existence in the year 1980

a) M.Sc. in Zoology

B. Nature of Course - Semester Scheme

C. Duration -4 Semesters (2 years)

E. Eligibility:

a) M.Sc. in Zoology : The candidate with B.Sc degree with Zoology as one of the optional subject of this University or any other University recognised as equivalent thereto, and with a minimum of 50% marks in the optional subject and a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate.

b) M.Sc. in Applied Genetics: Graduate in Science with minimum of 50% in the aggregate of all the optional subjects, with any three of the following subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Botany, Applied Botany, Zoology, Applied Zoology, Environmental Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Applied Genetics and Sericulture.
