History:

Mushrooming television channels, privatization of radio, revolution of web based technology has radically changed the information dissemination and reception. Growing media world has created the demand for skilled hands to adopt into new media scenario. Cater to these needs, formal technical training for young generation became deemed important. Considering these trends Bangalore University has established exclusive Electronic media course under science faculty at the post graduation level. Course started functioning from the academic year 2002-03. Since then department has trained 100s of students and alumnus of the department has excelled in the areas such as, news and entertainment channels, radio stations, advertising and corporate communication, production houses and cinemas along with education field. To train students with hands on experience the department is equipped with advanced television studio. It has multi camera set-up with post production facilities. Radio production equipments, field news gathering equipment and computer lab amenities are available to train students. Well furnished classrooms supports technology based teaching is added value to the course.

Keeping mass media expansion in mind the course has been restructured to meet the new trends in the Electronic media field. The course is taught in four semester spread into two years. The important areas taught in these two years are Television and radio production, post production, news gathering, new media, advertising and corporate communication.

E. Eligibility:

Candidates who have passed any bachelors degree examination of Bangalore University or any other recognized university and passed graduation with 50 percent of marks (aggregate of all the subjects including the languages) are eligible as per the Bangalore University rules.
