History of the Centre
The center established during the academic year 1980-81, in order to provide trained professional human resource to address the burning issues like poverty, unemployment and other socio-economic issues and problems of the nation.
The trained human source needed when planned and institutional approaches took place particularly after the sixth Five Year Plan for developing the rural areas.
The center for development studies is the first of its kind to establish an exclusive academic and training center to train youths at the university level.

E. Eligibility
a) M.A. in Rural Development & Management Candidates who have secured 40% marks in aggregate of all the subjects and 50% marks in the optional at Bachelor’s Degree level.
b) P. G. Diploma Course in Rural Development Candidates who have completed three years Bachelors Degree and have secured 50% of Marks in the Aggregate of all papers studied at the qualifying examinations are eligible for admission into the course
