To provide an environment to unfold the inner faculties of students and teachers to develop the required knowledge and skills for achieving wisdom through excellence in the field of Business.

Department – Mission

  • To blend theoretical knowledge with practical skills in business so as to prepare the youth to attain holistic approach and to occupy the managerial positions in Accounting, Finance, International Business and Tourism, besides general management.
  • To prepare human resource to cater to the growing needs of teaching community in the field of business education and to promote quality research and consultancy in the area of Business Studies.
  • To develop entrepreneurial ability in students.
  • To develop human resource to act as think tank for the business sector.
  • To develop business philosophers to propagate and practice social responsibility, inclusive growth and sound value system.

 History of the Department

Started M.Com in 1969. Introduced Post Graduate Diplomas in Business Administration, Marketing Management and Personnel Management and Industrial Relations in 1975. In 1976 MBA both day and evening were started the programme continued in 1998 it was entrusted for 20 years, The newly established Canara Bank School of Management Studies. Introduced Professional courses in 1999 i.e. started offering MFA (Master of Finance and Accounting) in 1999, MTA (Master of Tourism Administration) in 2000 and MIB (Master of International Business) in 2006.

Post graduate Diplomas in International Business, Insurance, Hospital Administration and Health Care Management started from 2000.

Dr. K. Hanumanthappa, Dr. O.R. Krishnaswamy, Dr. P.N. Reddy and Dr. K. Aswathappa were prominent professors who contributed for the development of Department.

E.  Eligibility:
a) M.Com:: A candidate who has passed the B.Com/B.B.M. Degree Examination of this University or of any other University recognized thereto and has secured not less than 50% (SC/ST/CAT-I: 45%) marks in aggregate in Commerce subjects in all the examinations of the B.Com/BBM course shall be eligible for admission to the course.
b) M.T.T.M Candidates who have passed Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s Degree Examination of this University or any other University in Commerce, Management, Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Engineering/Technology or equivalent and have secured atleast 50% (SC/ST/CAT-I: 45%) marks in the aggregate are eligible for admission to this course.
c) M.Com (F.A ): Candidates having Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Commerce/Accounting/Management/ Economics of this University or any other recognized University and have secured at least 50% (SC/ST/CAT-I: 45%) Marks in the aggregate of all papers studied in the qualifying examinations, are eligible for admission to this course.
